It is important for work places that are often considered noisy to conduct Work Cover hearing test to ensure that conditions of your workplace aren’t affecting your employees hearing.

All new employees are required to take a baseline hearing test within the first 12 months of their employment, which is regardless of their position or if the employee is wearing a hearing protection. This test is most commonly known as Work Cover hearing test. It is the employers responsibility to ensure that the baseline and subsequent tests are conducted for the employees. Baseline Test

The initial audiometric test that determines a worker’s baseline or overall percentage loss of hearing is a baseline hearing test. In order to estimate the likely severity of their occupational hearing loss and any potential compensation, all of their future tests will be compared to this result. A baseline comprehensive audiological examination may be required of you as part of the baseline hearing test, however this is only necessary for a small portion of employees and Enhance Hearing will notify you about it.

Follow up Hearing Test

After a baseline hearing test, employees may request in writing for yearly follow-up hearing tests from their employer. Employers are advised to offer routine audiometric testing to monitor any changes in hearing loss and reduce the likelihood of noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) compensation claims, even if subsequent tests are only required when requested by a worker. If the follow up test reveal that the employee has a hearing loss greater than 10%, Enhance hearing will notify both the employee and employer. A full comprehensive test would be required to determine if the employee is qualified for a Noise Induced Hearing loss (NIHL) compensation from the employer.

I had previously been tested at a different organization and was not happy with the outcome as I felt I had been "rushed through."

My visit with Johanna Rai at Enhance Hearing Glenmore Park was quite different! During my hearing assessment, Johanna listened closely to my history and carefully noted my symptoms. She conducted the testing taking into account factors such as my tinnitus and I felt more confident in the accuracy of her assessment. Johanna then reviewed my results and explained everything to me in terms I could understand.

When my specialist recommended that it was time to start using hearing aids, I returned to Enhance Hearing Glenmore Park. Johanna guided me through the selection process, helping me find something that was comfortable to wear and that suited my needs.

I have been very happy with the results. I now find it much easier to follow conversations when I’m out and about, and I can cope better in crowded locations. My wife has also commented that I’m no longer asking people to repeat themselves all the time.
